  1. Hey, We have added two new graphs to all 14 pools that show the historical network hashrate and the number of blocks found on the network during the day. Hopefully, this will give miners greater insight into coin network health, removing the need to rely on 3rd party tools. Found on homepage Found on Blocks page

I'll try to make my own build on a Linux VM (but probably not before Jun 1st; dunno if I'll find time for that before... ) and test it again. I just hope it at least has generated the mnemonic words properly. I'll report back. Thanks for help so far! 14. Interesting idea but I did it for free. Took me 10 hours to program it in PHP. You just need to read the API from the pools to get the difficulty, for example http://monero.hashvault.pro/api/pool/blocks, or the blockchains. After that read the API from the exchanges (tradeogre, stocks.exchange) or some general site (coinmarketcap, cryptocompare) to get the crypto price Here's a snapshot from my system

  16. Good question. Each of us actually works on solving the whole block. The way the cryptography works, there is no way to "split" the hashing process into smaller parts. For example, I solve small hash "A". You solve small hash "B". There is no way to guess the big hash "AB" from the already hashed "A" and "B" alone. I cannot even tell that you hashed "A" just from looking at the hash (I can only brute-force it, trying all inputs and comparing outputs. This is basically mining = hard ). More than that, small changes in the hash input result in big changes of the hash. Example: Hash of "123

  23. So, you decided that you want to try mining. If you already have a PC of some sort, great! You can download a miner and start mining nearly any cryptocurrency. Our pool currently supports many major CryptoNight based Cryptocurrency coins. This guide does not explain cryptocurrencies themselves; it is recommended that you understand them before you start mining them. 1. ASIC vs. CPU/GPU COINS (As of 1/2019) You probably know that coins like Bitcoin or Litecoin are not profitable to mine with a PC (CPU/GPU - Processor/Graphics card) because there are dedicated machines called A

  24. There is often a discussion about profitability and calculating expected income. But many times calculations turn out to be imprecise. Let's introduce few ways to calculate and analyze mining profit. 1. Manual calculations You can try and calculate expected profit by yourself. For this you need to know your hashrate, global hashrate, blocks per day (24h*60min(=1440) / block time in minutes) and average block reward (newly mined coins + variable tx fees). The formula for daily income is (YourHashrate*BlocksPerDay*AvgBlockReward) / GlobalHashrate Example: Coin:

In an attempt to remain neutral we will focus on the aspect of this shake-up that actually matters - you guys, the miners. As of block #137500 Sumokoin will change to become an ASIC friendly coin and going back to the original Cryptonight algorithm. At the time of writing that would mean displacing 4,735 mining rigs from hashvault. Looking at the problem we have grouped miners into the following groups. GPU Miners who don't want to be on an ASIC coin ASIC miners wanting a coin to mine that is good

  32. Wasn't sure where to put this so I stuck it here. I'm trying to figure out formulas for rewards based on hashrate. I came across this one for monero: Daily mining estimate = ( (your hashrate) * (current block reward) * 720 ) / (network hashrate) Although this seems like "solo mining" reward What calculations do the pool estimators use? Is there a place I can find those? Thanks!

  33. https://electroneum.com/2018/04/25/blockchain-update/ So my question is... where will all the ASIC's go next? they are running out of coins to flock to? Also I wonder how mining ETN will look without those ASIC's running? I'ts hitting 1500 Mh/s now... I'm expecting it to drop below 150 Mh/s after the fork. It will be an interesting end of May for sure. Mark your calendars and get ready to watch the fire lol

  34. Yeah I was surprised to see even on ETN they still manage a $25-30 a day profit! Thought for sure with Monero out of the picture they be in the single digits. Of course they aren't making the insane amounts they were on monero anymore, but that's not too bad.. until it stops end of May haha

  35. So back story a bit: I started mining with old Dell optiplex 790's leftover from work. We ran out of office space and my storage office was needed. So rather than throw them out I took all 22 of them home installed windows 10 during the "free upgrade" phase and they kinda just hung out in my office under a spare desk. The down side... they are dells.. and small form factor/ Low profile making GPU choices limited. Anyway I found out that the dell BIO's only allows a single GPU as the PSU is only 250W (80+ Gold rated though!) and even though they have 2 PCIe slots dell deemed 2 GPU

  41. I think the reason for the "drop and restore" hashrates we see up there is a combination of: ASICs being kicked out and switching to other, not-yet ASIC resistant coins, miners that don't change their infrastructure and submit invalid shares for a period of time, miners that use e.g. nicehash etc. and don't update their miners on time, so that they will stop getting proper work until they're updated to support new algorithms, web mining scripts that are not updated in time and last but not least, botnets that are not able to "update" the mining code on their victims instantly. All these r

  42. Definition from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Invalid_block (applies to all coins basically) Generally, those blocks are called "orphaned". That means the (monero) blockchain has rejected the block. This can happen when more miners/pools submit a block at once. The network has to choose only one "correct" block. If it didn't, the whole blockchain would split to two copies. That's why we don't get reward for those. We technically never found the block. And that's also the reason why we must wait 50 blocks to get our reward - protection so few blocks back can be reversed without re-paying
